Winter is typically a slower season for many as people wind down to Christmas, however this is not the case at E C Drummond! Our dedicated staff work on our Hampshire and Herefordshire farms all year round to preserve and protect our quality produce. Crops are continuously being planted and nurtured to keep a constant supply of soft fruit and arable to major national retailers.
It all starts with the soil
The best way to get the best crops is planting them in good soil. E C Drummond have over 50 years’ experience in arable farming and we go the extra mile when it comes to soil management. Each and every month our experts carry out in-depth analysis to monitor the pH of all soil types on the farms to protect and promote the best yield possible.
Sustainable sowing and farming
The farms and their surrounding area provide a home as well as a livelihood, which is why E C Drummond are committed to adopting environmentally safe farming practices on our land. Not only does this protect the rural countryside, but it also promotes consistent quality in production. As active members of Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF), we minimise pesticide use wherever possible and encourage sustainable sowing and farming methods to preserve the landscape for future generations.
Seeing in the New Year
The close of 2017 sees the end of a bumper year for our farms in both their business growth and produce yield. The New Year will bring new challenges for us in terms of looking to improve productivity and maintain the quality that we are known for at E C Drummond. As we start to process our Autumn strawberries and Winter wheat, our teams are thinking ahead for our summer crop yields.
